Jylee is a bright and resilient 16-year-old whose courage has inspired an entire community. Diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma, a rare form of childhood cancer, Jylee has spent much of her teenage years navigating treatments, scans and uncertainty. Yet through it all, she continues to radiate joy, faith, and grace beyond her years.

Despite months of chemotherapy and high-dose radiation, Jylee has never let cancer define who she is. She treasures normal teenage moments, like going to school, laughing with friends, and picking out the perfect dress for Junior Prom.

Her family shares that throughout this journey, it’s been important for Jylee to feel not just strong, but like herself throughout treatment.
That’s where Wigs For Kids becomes part of her story.
Last year, Jylee’s family applied to the Wigs For Kids Recipient Program, where we provide hand-tied hairpieces created from ponytail donations made by generous hair donors across the world, and always at no cost to the family.
Each family is paired with a Certified Service Provider (CSP), a stylist who works alongside the family to make sure each hairpiece meets the need of each child. In their first appointment, the stylist and family work together to select the size, length, and color for the hairpiece. From there, the order goes to our expert wig makers, where 20-30 ponytails, taken from several donors, are blended together to create a wig just for Jylee.
In February, Jylee’s hairpiece was delivered, and the family returned to visit their CSP Alicia Lopez at her salon, Alicia’s Hair Studio. At this second appointment, Alicia trimmed and styled Jylee’s new hair, and provided the family with maintenance tips so Jylee could keep her new hair looking its best.
The day Jylee received her hairpiece was both meaningful and emotional for the family. Jylee’s mother shared, “Wigs For Kids matched us up with the perfect stylist. Not only is she a stylist, but she became a friend after this to us.”
One of the most beautiful parts of Jylee’s story is her confidence in choosing what feels right for her. While she loves her new hairpiece and the options it gives her, Jylee is equally proud of her bald head, affectionately referred to by mom as “her little bald bean.”
She may continue to go bald by choice, but now she has something just as important: options.
If she wants her hair styled for a special moment, like prom or another milestone, she can. And for a 16-year-old girl, that freedom means everything.

For Jylee and her family, receiving a hairpiece wasn’t just about appearance. It was about dignity, choice, and feeling celebrated during an incredibly tough time. It was also a reminder that there is an entire network of donors, stylists, and supporters who care deeply about children like her. Jylee’s Army is a group dedicated to supporting her journey, on Facebook and Instagram.

When asked what advice she would share with another child, Jylee said, “Try to see the positive side during the hard times and know you are NEVER alone!!!!”
At Wigs For Kids, we are honored to walk alongside brave kids like Jylee, providing not just hair, but confidence, compassion, and hope when it’s needed most.
Stories like Jylee’s are only possible because of a community that believes no child should face hair loss alone.
