When stylist Cathy Leite decided she wanted to truly understand what her clients were experiencing, she took a bold step—she shaved her head and wore wigs for five years. “I wanted to feel what they feel every day,” she explained, “so I could really understand what they were sharing with me and what they needed.”
That empathy has guided her entire career. Cathy and her daughter have donated their hair many times, a tradition rooted in compassion and care. With more than 25 years as a stylist specializing in hair loss and thinning, she now owns Alicia’s Beauty Shop, named after her daughter. Inside her welcoming salon, clients find more than just services—they find solutions. From turbans to wigs, Cathy’s mission is clear: to help clients feel like themselves again—confident, beautiful, and empowered.
She and her staff go well beyond a simple consultation. Every detail matters, from precise fittings to custom cuts and natural-looking styling. Cathy also provides ongoing wig maintenance, making sure her clients look and feel their best every single day.
As a Certified Service Provider, Cathy has worked with several Wigs For Kids recipients, most recently Layla, who Cathy recalls as, “A joyful, confident child—radiating inspiration and strength.” Cathy gets to know the families she serves well, while helping them with wig fittings, color matching, styling, and ongoing support.
Wigs For Kids appreciates the time and talent that stylists share to help children with medical related hair loss. They are building relationships with the families we serve and working toward our shared goal of restoring each child’s hope and happiness.
Each and every day, Wigs For Kids relies on the generosity of stylists across the country, whether they are performing donation cuts, or working directly with recipient families. They share their time, talent, and expertise to make life better for kids dealing with hair loss.
Each year, more and more families apply for our services, which are always provided at no cost to the families. This means our need for hair donations, financial donations, and stylists to help our kids also continues to increase.
Wigs For Kids offers free training materials to any stylist who would like to join our cause and help kids. Ask your favorite stylist to join us!
