Hair Recipient Stories: Rylie Shares Her Story

December 12, 2018

Thank you, Rylie, for sharing your beautiful story. We’re so proud of you!

We received a message from one of our Wigs for Kids recipients, Rylie. Remember, it’s because of donors and supporters of Wigs for Kids we’re able to help children like Rylie feel beautiful from the inside out.

“In December of 2017, I started losing my hair. It started as a bald patch on the side of my head, but then grew into much more. I didn’t know how people around me would react, but I decided to be open about having Alopecia.

I missed my hair, and the wig that I had felt very itchy on me, so I never wanted to wear it. I was self-conscious about it, but then found a love in modeling and embracing it. Even though I was getting better at accepting I had it, I still missed my hair.

We found Wigs for Kids and we applied for me to get a wig! They were amazing throughout the whole process, and when I got my wig, it was the happiest I had been in a long time! I finally looked like my old self, and I was able to do all the hairstyles I used to do before I lost my hair. It truly helped my self-confidence, and I can look in the mirror and see myself again.”
