At just 15 years old, Gauge is proving that strength comes in many forms. A Texas teen with a passion for music, rodeo, and inspiring others, Gauge has built a life around the things she loves most by performing as a singer-songwriter, competing as an all-around cowgirl, and sharing her journey with a growing online community. She is also a proud advocate for alopecia awareness.
In December 2024, Gauge was diagnosed with Alopecia Areata, an autoimmune condition that causes hair loss. What began as a few small patches quickly progressed, ultimately leading to the loss of approximately 95% of her hair. The experience brought significant emotional challenges, but Gauge chose to face them with remarkable courage.
When the hair loss became too overwhelming to manage, Gauge made the brave decision to shave her head. Rather than allowing alopecia to control her story, she took ownership of it. In a heartfelt message shared with her supporters, she explained that although alopecia may take her hair, it will never take her confidence, her heart, or who she is as a person.
Gauge’s resilience was tested further when a social media video unexpectedly went viral, reaching millions of viewers. While the response included an outpouring of encouragement and support, it also exposed her to hurtful comments and bullying about her appearance. Even through those difficult experiences, Gauge continued to stand tall, sharing her journey openly and encouraging others who may be facing their own challenges. She shares, “To anyone else out there dealing with something hard or something they didn’t choose — you’re not alone.”
Today, Gauge is entering an exciting new chapter as a Wigs For Kids recipient. She is currently in the measurement phase of the program and will soon meet with Certified Service Provider Kristi Barba. During this important appointment, Gauge will be professionally measured and fitted for her made-to-order hairpiece, selecting the cap size, hair length, and color that best match her preferences and lifestyle.

As with all Wigs For Kids recipients, Gauge’s hairpiece will be provided completely free of charge. The goal is to create a comfortable, natural-looking, and durable hairpiece that allows her to focus on the activities she loves — from performing music and competing in rodeo events, to simply enjoying life as a teenager.
With more than 15,000 followers on Instagram, Gauge uses her platform to celebrate country life, music, rodeo, and alopecia awareness. Alongside her service dog, Sigman, she continues to inspire others by demonstrating that confidence and beauty come from within.

Everyone at Wigs For Kids is honored to be part of Gauge’s journey. Her determination, positivity, and unwavering spirit remind us that true confidence isn’t defined by hair — it’s defined by the courage to keep moving forward no matter what obstacles stand in the way.
We look forward to celebrating the day Gauge receives her Wigs For Kids hairpiece and continues pursuing her dreams with the same strength and grace that have already touched so many lives. ❤️
