Kate Joins The Wigs For Kids Family, Just Like Her Mom!

March 4, 2021

Welcome to the Wigs For Kids family, Kate!

Sitting at her salon with Hair Donation Specialist, Chelsea Canfield, four-year-old Kate had a giant smile on her face and said, “bye, bye hair!” Nat (Kate’s mom, who also donates her hair!) shared with our team, in June of 2019, her daughter saw a TV commercial with children that didn’t have hair. They had a conversation about why, and at that moment, her small child decided to grow her hair out for children who needed it.

A note from Nat:

“You can imagine how many times I wanted to cut her hair! But nothing was stopping my strong-willed child with her beautiful heart. I am so proud of her!”

Nat is also a mom blogger for Akron Mom and Kids. After she shared the post of her child’s haircut, friends and followers began asking her questions about her experience.

Here were her top two questions:

Q: What length can I cut?

A:  We ask that ponytails are at least 12” (31.5 cm) in length to be incorporated into our hand-tied hairpieces. Our most requested hairpieces need 16”+ to produce 14” hairpieces. We always encourage our donors to keep growing!

  1. Can my hair be colored?
  2. No color, please! Chemically processed hair (of any kind!) won’t survive the chemical cleaning processing we use on each strand of hair.

Nat, we know beside every child donor is a parent or guardian lighting their path with love. Thank you for being an advocate for Wigs For Kids—and for infusing your light into your children! We’re thankful for you both!
