16 Year Old Hailey Has Donated Over Five Feet of Hair
Way to Grow! From age six, Hailey Coates, figured out a way that she could be kind to others every minute of her life. Now, at age 16, Hailey has donated over 5 feet of hair in her lifetime. Hailey’s journey began when she learned she could donate her hair to other children who had lost theirs due to illness.
During the last week of kindergarten, Hailey donated her long tresses that had only previously been trimmed. More importantly, Hailey decided then that she would only ever cut her hair for the purpose of donating it. Now, as she finished her sophomore year of high school, Hailey has donated over 65 inches of hairin six donations to charitable organizations providing wigs for children in need. We hope that by sharing her story, Hailey can inspire so many others, no matter what age, to carry out their own acts of kindness.
A Roll Model and An Inspiration
Hailey has always been motivated by the idea that she could be a role model and an inspiration to others. Since her first donation she’s known of 7 friends and/or family members who have been inspired to donate. Hailey had her hair cut at Hair Salon Body and Soul in New Providence, New Jersey.
“This makes me so happy, and I hope to inspire many more.” -Hailey
Providing Hair Replacement Systems to Children for 30+ Years
For over 30 years, Wigs for Kids has been providing Hair Replacement Systems and support for children who have lost their hair due to chemotherapy, radiation therapy, Alopecia, Trichotillomania, burns and other medical issues at no cost to children or their families. The effects of hair loss go deeper than just a change in a child’s outward appearance. Hair loss can erode a child’s self-confidence and limit them from experiencing life the way children should. With an injured self-image, a child’s attitude toward treatment and their physical response to it can be negatively affected also. Wigs for Kids helps children suffering from hair loss look themselves and live their lives.Because we never charge families for hair replacements, we depend on generous people like you that want to help donate hair for cancer and other sources of hair loss.
