Teresa Sheldon is a hair donor at Wigs for Kids who goes above and beyond to help children. Teresa has donated her hair multiple times because she knows that no child should have to experience the trauma of losing hair.
Teresa’s giving heart does not end there. Every year in the month of December, Teresa’s workplace holds a Christmas auction. This year, the auction was held by her employer and colleagues to donate money to Wigs for Kids.
According to Teresa, the auction was a success for the workplace and Wigs for Kids. Teresa’s workplace is a trade-association that deals with building and construction. Teresa stated, “most people would not associate our workplace with a non-profit organization like Wigs for Kids.” “However, our workplace has a culture of reaching out and helping people.” “We help people with disabilities and work-compensation.” So, helping children at Wigs for Kids is something we are proud to do.”
This auction was also a success for Wigs for Kids because it informed so many people of who we are and what we do. According to Teresa, many people assumed we only help children with cancer. This auction informed many that we help children with other hair losses including alopecia and trichotillomania.
Wigs for Kids would like to thank Teresa for her hair donation and her stylist Cheryl Lane at L-Hair Studio in Olympia, WA for taking the time to creating a beautiful hairpiece for a child. We would also like to thank Teresa, her employers, and colleagues for the Christmas auction that raised $2,502.00 for Wigs for Kids. Not only did this raise money, but it also informed people at the auction what Wigs for Kids is, and how we help children lives their lives with beauty inside and out.
