Penn State THON 2023 Fundraises for Childhood Cancer

Join Wigs For Kids on February 17-19, 2023

Penn State THON weekend is quickly approaching on February 17-19. THON is the largest student-run philanthropy in the world. Students organize and participate in year-long fundraising activities for Four Diamonds at Penn State Health Children’s Hospital. Their goal is to enhance the lives of children and families impacted by childhood cancer through raising funds, generating awareness and providing support.

PSU THON 2023 hosts a weekend-long Dance Marathon and a Cut-a-Thon with all hair donated to Wigs For Kids. THON Special Events Hair Donation Captains worked diligently with Wigs for Kids, THON volunteers, and local salons and stylists to develop their first THON Hair Donation. Together, they selected 11 dedicated Penn State students to take part in gifting their locks to Wigs For Kids.

“THON Hair Donation is more than a tangible contribution to individuals affected by hair loss,” one organizer shared. “It is an opportunity for Penn State students to stand in solidarity with individuals who have experienced loss in the fight against childhood cancer. THON hair donations provide a space for the THON community to offer emotional support through very personal generosity.”

From all of us at Wigs For Kids and the Penn State THON student philanthropy community, thank you for making a difference in the lives of children.
