Mother of Three Shares Her Son’s Hair Donation Story

What Inspired Zach to Give His Hair?

My name is Marcia and I have a beautiful family of five, including three wonderful boys. Zach, our youngest, is five years old, and we are so impressed with his determination in who he is and what he wants. His hair has always grown beautifully and although we knew he’d someday need a “big boy” haircut, we let it keep growing until that time came.

One day we were watching TV and a commercial played that displayed kids with cancer. Curious about their hair loss, he began asking me a lot of questions. After our conversation, he knew he wanted to help and even began telling his teacher and classmates he planned to donate his hair to kids who needed it.

Celebrating His Birthday with a Haircut!

I began researching hair donation options online, hoping to find the best organization. When I came across Wigs For Kids, I was so appreciative of all of the generous work I read about, and I felt it was a perfect fit for us. To celebrate his 5th birthday, we made the decision to cut and donate Zach’s hair.

As a mother, of course it is heartbreaking to hear about children being sick. I can’t even begin to imagine what that must feel like. I want to teach all of my children to care for and help others, which is why we decided together to donate to Wigs For Kids. We were grateful for the opportunity to help and it brings us joy to give joy to others!
