Meet Jady, a 7-year-old with inspiring strength and courage.
Recently, Jady celebrated a milestone more than two years in the making. She rang the bell at Akron Children’s Hospital, marking the completion of her cancer treatments for B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Surrounded by family, friends, caregivers, and supporters, Jady cartwheeled her way to the bell wearing pink boxing gloves and proudly rang it, signaling the end of a long and difficult chapter.

Jady was diagnosed with leukemia in 2024 at just five years old. What followed were years of chemotherapy treatments, blood transfusions, hospital visits, and countless challenges that no child should have to face. Throughout it all, Jady persevered. Her family describes her as fierce, loving, and incredibly strong.
Treatments came with a variety of challenges, one of which was losing her hair before she ever had a proper haircut. Jady shared, “I felt sad losing my hair.”
For many children, hair loss is a visible reminder that life is different from their peers. It can impact confidence, self-image, and the simple desire to fit in at school and among friends.
That is where Wigs For Kids became part of Jady’s story.
Jady’s family applied to our Recipient Program, where children facing medical hair loss can receive a hand-tied hairpiece made just for them, and always at no cost to the family. These hairpieces are designed to be durable enough to withstand the vigorous activities of a child, while also being comfortable enough for everyday use. These hairpieces, hand-tied strand by strand, are created from the generosity of our hair and financial donors.
Wigs For Kids pairs each family with a local volunteer stylist, who assists the family with measurements prior to hairpiece creation, and with styling services once the made-to-order hairpiece is ready.

Jady’s stylist, Michi Rodesheim of The Hair Specialists shared, “From the second [Jady] walked in, she was all smiles, full of excitement to receive her very first wig. Watching her look in the mirror and light up was unforgettable. It wasn’t just about the hair, it was about her confidence shining through. Helping kids like Jady feel like themselves again is truly the heart of what we do.”

Jady agrees. “I was so happy to have my hairpiece because I looked like the other girls in my classroom who have long hair,” she said.
That sense of normalcy is exactly what Wigs For Kids strives to provide. Every made-to-order hair replacement system is designed to help children facing medical hair loss regain confidence and focus on being kids again.

Today, Jady is a vibrant second grade student who loves cheerleading, gymnastics, and camping with her family. She is proud of earning her Most Valuable Cheerleader award and being recognized as a Star Student in gymnastics. Her favorite color is pink and she’s happiest when she’s spending time with friends, cheering, tumbling, or seeing her mom after a long day at school.

As Jady looks ahead to a future filled with cheerleading, camping adventures, and all the activities she loves, her story serves as a powerful reminder of the impact made possible through the generosity of supporters, hair donors, medical teams, and community members. The support her family received throughout her treatment journey helped them remember they were never fighting alone.
At Wigs For Kids, we are honored to have been part of Jady’s journey.
Today, Jady’s smile, strength, and determination are proof that hope can grow even in the most challenging circumstances. As she moves forward cancer-free, we join her family and community in celebrating a remarkable victory.

Congratulations, Jady. Your Wigs For Kids family is cheering you on every step of the way. ❤️
