At Wigs For Kids, our compassionate volunteer stylists help transform the lives of children experiencing medical hair loss. In San Diego, California, barber and stylist Jenna Elliot of Boulevard Barber and Shave shows what true passion and dedication to service looks like, helping children both in the salon chair and beyond.
For Jenna, hair is more than just her profession. It’s a way to build confidence, create meaningful connections, and honor a deeply personal experience that has shaped her life.

Jenna has been a licensed hairstylist for 13 years and a barber for 8 years. As a duel license holder, Jenna brings a unique blend of technical expertise and creativity to her work. But most importantly, Jenna brings compassion and care, sharing her time and talents with a her clientele and supporting the Wigs For Kids mission.
Since partnering with Wigs For Kids in 2021, Jenna has become both a Hair Donation Specialist (HDS), harvesting ponytails for donation, and a Certified Service Provider (CSP), working directly with recipient families in the measuring, styling, and maintenance of their free-of-charge hairpieces. In 2025, she expanded her support even further by organizing fundraisers to help cover costs associated with hairpiece production.

Throughout her career, Jenna has worked with countless hair donors. While many stylists can recall a favorite donor experience, Jenna sees each donation as a special event.
“I have worked with tons of hair donors! I couldn’t tell you my favorite. Each client, whether it’s a child or adult, has their own incredibly beautiful story as to why they are in my chair.”
She understands that every donation represents generosity, hope, and a desire to make a difference in a child’s life.

As a Certified Service Provider, Jenna has worked with several children experiencing hair loss, often building long-term relationships as they grow and return for additional services.
For Jenna, watching a child regain confidence is one of the most rewarding parts of her work.
“Seeing these kids grow up, and watching their confidence and their lives blossom is something special. These kids are true warriors. The bravery and perseverance the kids have is amazing.”
She believes the impact of hair restoration goes far beyond appearance.
“These kids become a part of your life, and you become a part of theirs. Building relationships with these kids, seeing their faces light up from start to finish, it’s incredible to be part of the process.”

While our hairpieces are always provided free-of-charge to the families we serve, Jenna understands that it takes more than donated hair to make that possible. Donated hair provides the raw materials, but financial support helps cover the costs of creating and delivering each hairpiece, including packaging and shipping, maintenance supplies such as shampoo and wig tape, and essential operational expenses like staff, rent, and utilities.
Jenna has reached out to her local community to find a variety of ways to raise funds and awareness for our mission. Last year, she organized a golf outing and a variety of pizza night fundraisers at Mountain Mike’s Pizza locations across the country.
This year, she is planning to break a world record with “The National Big Daddy Hair Repo” Cut-A-Thon event on September 27, 2026. The goal is to harvest 394 pounds of hair on that day, and to raise $10,000, enough to fully fund four hairpieces. She is currently looking for additional barber and stylist support, as well as hair and financial donors. Interested hair donors can sign up here. Barbers and stylists willing to harvest ponytails on that day should email Jenna here. Supporters able to make a financial contribution can do so here.
Jenna’s commitment to helping children comes from a deeply personal place.
When she was six years old, Jenna lost her older sister, who was eight years old and spent much of her life at a children’s hospital. Jenna recalls spending time with her sister, doing her hair, sharing smiles and laughter, and creating joyful momenets despite difficult circumstances.
Those memories have stayed with her throughout her life and became a driving force behind her career.
“The smiles and laughs we would exchange is something I want to create for other children. This is why I do hair, and Wigs For Kids has given me the opportunity to work with kids to create the same experience I was able to have with my sister.”
What a powerful reminder that healing often begins with connection, compassion, and being seen.
Whether she is helping a donor prepare for a dramatic cut, measuring a child for a hand-tied hairpiece, or organizing a community fundraiser, Jenna embodies the Wigs For Kids mission.
Her dedication reminds us that every haircut, every donation, and every act of kindness has the power to change a child’s life.
As Jenna says, “Changing lives, one haircut at a time.”
Every day, Wigs For Kids relies on generous, compassionate stylists like Jenna. Whether they’re performing donation cuts or working directly with recipient families, stylists provide the time, talent, and expertise needed to help restore confidence in children experiencing hair loss.
Each year, more families apply for our services, which are always provided at no cost. This means our need for hair donations, financial donations, and stylists also continues to grow.

Wigs For Kids offers free training materials for any stylist interested in joining our mission. Ask your favorite stylist if they’d like to help kids in need!
