Brittany Donates her Hair & Raises Over $2,500 for Wigs for Kids
Brittany shared why she chose to donate her hair and to help raise funds. Brittany “Having a baby in 2020 was an amazing experience, but it came with a few unexpected details: COVID & quarantining before and after baby arrived!
My hair was the longest it had ever been. Baby loved to tangle his little fingers in and pull!
Over my maternity leave I found out that it takes about $1,800.00 to make one wig for a child! I knew I had to “double” my 14 inches of hair donated with funds as well.
Special thanks to all of my family and friends that donated and to my top donor Preferred Home Health Care & Nursing Services which provides Pediatric Nursing Care and more!”

4th Annual Walleye for Kids Raises $13,500 for Wigs for Kids
Walleye for Kids had a banner year for funds raised in 2020 a total of $13,500. Now in its 4th year, the tournament boasted 41 teams.
Teams pay an entry fee of $150 or make a donation to enter the fishing competition. Each team is allowed a maximum of eight fishing rods on the boat. At the end of the tournament, there is a weigh-in for fish caught and a winner announced. Participants braved the cold temperatures this year supporting Wigs for Kids. The organizer of the event shared “We had tremendous support from our community and fishermen, and were so very pleased to be able to raise $13,500 benefiting Wigs for Kids.”
The organizer has a very personal connection to the Wigs for Kids family as his child was severely burned as a young child. He has gone through many reconstructive surgeries and has been served by Wigs for Kids through a hair replacement system and support.
Participants of the tournament generously shared some of the walleye they caught with families in need in their communities.
