Meet a Wigs for Kids Recipient: Ellie

March 28, 2024

Ellie is 11 years old and began experiencing hair loss at the age of 7. She has alopecia. Alopecia is a disease that happens when the immune system attacks hair follicles causing the hair loss. According to the National Alopecia Areata Foundation 1 in 1,000 children and teens are affected by alopecia.

Ellie is like a typical 11 year old, she enjoys playing soccer, basketball, football, jumping on her trampoline and playing with her dogs named Molly, Bella and Harlow. Ellie shared “I can wear my wig and it makes me feel beautiful.” Wigs For Kids strives to help children to feel beautiful both inside and out. Hair loss can impact the physical, mental and social well-being of a child.

Ellie’s Dad stated “I love Wigs For Kids — it has changed our lives. It shows how much in this crazy world that people are still so kind and caring. Keri, our certified service provider (partner stylist) has had a tremendous impact on Ellie, and in our community to bringing awareness for kids with hair loss. Thank you to everyone!”

Ellie’s Certified Service Provider (partner Wigs For Kids hair stylist) will be hosting a fundraiser for Wigs For Kids called Show & Shine, and has a trophy named for Ellie called the Ellie’s Choice WFK Trophy. Click the learn below to learn more about this upcoming event.
