On Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at 1:00 PM, The Dispensary MD in Westminster, Maryland, will host a special community event benefiting Wigs For Kids. Dr. Alexander Dix will once again donate his hair to help children experiencing hair loss while raising funds to support the mission of providing hair replacement systems at no cost to the children and families we serve.

This free community event is open to adults 21 and over. No registration or check-in is required. Guests are welcome to stop by, watch the live hair donation, meet participating vendors, and support the cause. The event will also be streamed live on Instagram via @the_dispensary_md for those who cannot attend in person.
For Dr. Dix, hair donation is much more than a one-time event.
His journey began when his mother was diagnosed with cancer in 2012. Inspired to help individuals experiencing hair loss, he began growing his hair and made his first donation to Wigs For Kids in 2017 during an event at Northeast Ohio Medical University. Since then, Dr. Dix has continued the tradition, growing and donating his hair every two to three years.
This year’s donation marks his fifth hair donation, demonstrating an ongoing commitment to helping children regain confidence during challenging times.
“I’ve continued growing and donating every 2-3 years since then,” Dr. Dix shared. “I’ve donated four times already. I like that you don’t charge people for the wigs.”
In addition to the live haircut, attendees can enjoy vendor pop-ups and special giveaways throughout the event. Participating vendors will be showcasing their brands and contributing raffle prizes, including:
To enter the raffle, guests simply need to make a donation of any amount to the fundraiser and show a digital receipt as proof of donation.
While there is no formal sign-up process for hair donors, individuals who wish to donate their hair are welcome to do so during the event. The Dispensary MD staff has been sharing information with customers and encouraging anyone who meets hair donation requirements to participate.
Hair donations play a critical role in helping Wigs For Kids gift high-quality hand-tied human hairpieces for children experiencing hair loss due to medical conditions such as cancer treatment, alopecia, burns, and other health-related challenges.
