BuckeyeThon Cut-A-Thon supports Wigs for Kids

BuckeyeThon is a student-led organization with the purpose of enhancing the lives of children and families impacted by childhood cancer through fundraising and creating awareness. Ohio State University’s BuckeyeThon was held on February 10 with thousands of students participating in a day of celebration and culmination of their yearlong fundraising efforts. The money raised through BuckeyeThon is donated to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, OH.

Thanks to the concerted efforts of Wigs for Kids at OSU, also a student-led organization, Wigs for Kids benefited from the Cut-A-Thon hosted at the daylong event. Nine individuals donated their hair during the event’s Power Hour. Wigs for Kids is most appreciative of Hair Donation Specialist Amy Kendrick from Kutz Your Way by Amy (Dublin, OH) who provided her time and skills to section the donors hair.

Founder of Wigs for Kids at OSU, Emma stated, “Getting to be able to introduce so many OSU students to the wonderful work of Wigs for Kids was so impactful. The event is not only a staple to OSU but a part of Buckeye culture, so it is incredible to be a part of it as both a student and a representative of Wigs for Kids. The joy, smiles, and even tears that came from the selfless Buckeyes who donated their hair will stick with me forever and further push all of us with Wigs for Kids at Ohio State to keep pushing for the cause.”
