Volunteer Event at Wigs For Kids Honors a Victim of 9/11

March 3, 2023

September 11, 2001 is a day most will never forget. For many who lost a loved one on that fateful day, it is a day of grief, but also one of remembrance. This includes Michelle Hann who lost her best friend, Christina Sunga Ryook.

Christina and her family immigrated from Seoul, Korea to Westlake, Ohio when she was a young girl. It was in Westlake that she met her best friend, Michelle Han. The two had been best friends since the age of five and nurtured their bond through high school and beyond. According to Michelle, Christina was a very thoughtful person with a big heart. She was the member of the family who would remember everyone’s birthday. Christina had a kind, helping heart and loved children. Throughout her life, she was highly involved with her community and participated in many community events, including charity work.

After Christina’s passing at the age of twenty-five, Michelle was determined to keep her friend’s memory alive. Michelle created a volunteer group which actively supports Wigs For Kids. Every year, around Christina’s birthday, the volunteer group arrives at Wigs For Kids headquarters in Westlake, Ohio ready to support the charity however they can. Over the years, the group has sorted through hair donations, checked donor information, and sent Thank You cards as part of their service. It is an amazing gift of time given to honor a remarkable young woman’s example of love and service.

Wigs For Kids is an organization that helps children struggling with medical hair loss by providing them the opportunity to look like themselves again. Located in Westlake, Ohio, the very city where Christina grew up, the charity was a natural fit for the group to honor her by giving of their time.

Wigs For Kids would like to thank Christina’s family, Michelle, and the entire volunteer group for their support in memory of their loved one.
