New Mom Inspired to Give Back to Children

April 8, 2020

Today’s feature is a donation story from our friend, Jade – a new mom with a huge heart for giving. We hope you enjoy her story as much as we did!

Written by hair donor, Jade Cook-Shankman

After eight years of waiting I finally became a mom for the first time on September 20, 2019. Needless to say, it was the greatest year of my life! I love being a brand new mom to our sweet baby, Lennon.

I have always loved finding ways to give back, and after having Lennon, I felt compelled to give back to an organization that benefited children. In the past, I had come across hair donation as an option when researching ways to give back, and I began to wonder if donation to children was possible.

After deciding I wanted to donate my hair, I began researching hair donation organizations. I landed on Wigs For Kids because the mission really touched my heart. I wanted my big cut to mean something, and Wigs For Kids grants the opportunity to help children with their confidence and self-esteem during one of the hardest times in their lives – a perfect fit for me.

My hope is for the child who receives my hair donation to feel the love and confidence it gave me, and know that they are beautiful inside and out. Baby Lennon has inspired me to do more for children because one day, our little Lennon may need the helping hand of a stranger as well.
