Meet Kyler, Wigs For Kids Hair and Financial Donor

We met Kyler (@bladesapa)  in 2017 when he was donating his hair for the first time in honor of his mom Dawn. And now, four years later, he’s donated again—and raised more than $4,000 to make an even greater impact!  Our hand-tied hairpiece systems are valued at more than $2,000 and each hairpiece is made completely from human hair, to ensure it looks like the child’s own hair.

With the support of financial and hair donors like Kyler, we can continue to provide those systems.

And in honor of Mother’s Day, we’re proud to share his story with you.

“I was lucky enough to donate my hair back in 2017, and now I will chop it off again in 2021.

Many of you know my mother Dawn, who lost her fight with breast cancer about 14 years ago, just as I was entering high school. Crazy how now I have spent half of my life with her and half without.

One of her most endearing traits was her large capacity for love. If I had to guess, her love list would include my brother and me, Hawaii, performing her occupational therapy, and of course HAIR. She always wore her long “hula” hair and fashioned my brother and me with sweet mullets growing up. Of course, one side effect of chemotherapy is hair loss.

Truthfully, it was tough watching something that meant so much to my mom get taken for no reason. It is, for this reason, I will be donating my hair to Wigs For Kids…”

We’re grateful for the opportunity to meet donors like Kyler every day. If you’re interested in joining the Wigs For Kids family with a hair donation or financial donation honoring someone you love, please visit wigsforkids.org
