Brooke John’s Story on Being a Certified Service Provider

January 12, 2021

At Wigs For Kids, our team of Certified Service Providers nurture the children we serve on their hair loss journey. Certified Service Providers are stylist partners, who’ve attended training from Hair Loss University, and have learned our precise system of measuring a child for his/her hand-tied hairpiece system. This team is deeply rooted in our mission of helping children look and feel like themselves again.

Brooke John, a Certified Service Provider Partner to Wigs For Kids

Hair loss in children damages self-esteem, which can negatively impact every aspect of a child’s life. Our Certified Service Provider Partners work to build relationships with the families we serve, and towards the shared goal of restoring each child’s hope and happiness.

We’re so inspired by their work, and are honored to share a story with you of one of our newest Certified Service Provider Partners, Brooke and her beautiful cousin, Jade.

“My name is Brooke John, and I have been a hairstylist for 11 years. Over this time, I have had many guests come in wanting to donate hair, and without even knowing much about Wigs For Kids, other than the fact that they donate their wigs to those in need of one. I have always suggested Wigs For Kids for my guests when donating their hair.

Recently, my 9-year-old cousin, Jade, was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer. Our family has been in complete shock and disbelief at this diagnosis. Jade is a very active, spunky little girl and she has been a complete ROCKSTAR throughout her journey so far, her strength is inspiring.

She has always been a fighter; Jade was born at 31 weeks premature weighing only 3 pounds. Jade started Chemo treatments on November 5th, 2020, and within two weeks of her first treatment, she started to lose her hair.

From the minute they began discussing Jade’s treatment plan, they knew she would lose her hair, and I immediately began doing more research on Wigs For Kids, not knowing whether Jade would want a wig or not.

I applied to take the Hair Loss University training through Wigs For Kids, and they made the process so smooth. I have been in direct contact with Wigs For Kids throughout the entire process, personal phone calls, and emails to make sure everything is going as it should and to answer any questions I have.

I cannot say enough good things about this nonprofit. I am proud to say that I am officially a Certified Service Provider Partner with Wigs For Kids. I can’t wait to help Jade and other children get their confidence back, thanks to this generous organization!”
