Kiran was diagnosed with Leukemia when she was only 18 months old. She proved to be a fighter, even as an infant. Asha, Kiran’s mother, still remembers the words from the doctor, “your daughter has Leukemia.” Though her head was spinning, she knew her faith would carry her family through. “Kiran was, and still is, a real trooper,” Asha says.
Kiran’s older brother loves playing with her and always made sure she was okay, especially during the two years Kiran went through medical treatments. She vaguely remembers the doctor visits and hospital trips, and at just two years old, she recalls helping the nurses draw her blood.
Kiran won her battle with Leukemia, and as she got older, her hair began to grow back after losing it due to treatments. Kiran’s own battle with cancer inspired her to grow her hair out for other children struggling with medical-related hair loss. She shared with our team that she simply wanted to make other kids smile.

This year, in celebration of her eighth birthday, Kiran decided it was time to donate her hair. She donated 14” of her hair to Wigs For Kids. Kiran has proved to be a fighter. She hopes her story will inspire others to donate and help children dealing with hair loss. Even at only eight years old, she is truly an inspiration. Wigs For Kids is so grateful for our donors with big hearts that desire to help children feel more confident.
