Meet our 21-year-old hair donor Kyra Smith! Since Kyra was a young child, she always had one passion: helping other people. For this reason, Kyra has committed to her studies in Pennsylvania to become a social worker. As a student in social work, she has been able to make an impact on the lives of many people struggling with depression and anxiety. As Kyra continues her studies, she continues to reach out to people who need help.
In addition to social work, Kyra’s loving heart also extended to helping children struggling with hair loss. At the age of 17, Kyra discovered Wigs for Kids. When she learned that Wigs for Kids gives free wigs to children, she immediately wanted to be part of the organization. Kyra stated, “I find it disheartening that some companies make families pay.” “Families should not have to worry about paying for a hairpiece when the family is going through a difficult journey and paying medical expenses”. For this reason, Kyra wanted to donate her hair to Wigs for Kids.
Kyra’s main goal in donating hair is to bring joy to the life of a child. Kyra stated, “If I can bring joy to a child’s life by donating my hair then it is worth it”.
On behalf of Wigs for Kids, we would like to thank you Kyra for donating your hair. Your passion for helping others has touched the lives of so many people. We are also thankful to hair stylist Tori Kozik for taking the time to create a beautiful hairpiece from Kyra’s hair to change the life of a child.
