Will my ponytail make a wig? It takes approximately 12 -25 ponytails to create a hair system. Can I be certain that my hair will be used to make a hair system? We cannot guarantee that all donated hair will be used. The manufacturers make the selection based on several production criteria. Can I meet/write/call/receive information from the child who received my hair? The manufacturing process makes it impossible to determine whose hair went into any hair system. Can I donate hair that has been chemically processed? We cannot accept hair that has been permed or permanently color-treated. This includes highlighting. Is my hair donation tax-deductible? Although your hair donation is not tax deductible, the cost of the haircut and the mileage to travel to donate the hair is. This card acknowledges that we have received your hair donation. We cannot provide a tax receipt. Please contact your accountant for further information. How will I know you have received my hair? We will notify you that we received your hair donation. Because we work with United Cerebral Palsy it will take up to eight weeks to process your donation. Do you sell the hair you receive? Yes, hair that is unusable will be sold at fair market value. Can I donate my hair for a specific child or location? Unfortunately, we cannot accept hair for a specific child or location due the manufacturing of the hair replacement system. Where can I have my hair turned into a hairpiece? We recommend that you contact local hair replacement centers. They can be found in your Yellow Pages under Hair Replacement. |
