Imagine growing your hair for 2 or 3 years.
How much a part of your life it is.
People know you by your long hair.
You dress accordingly, to show it off.
You acquire habits like combing the tangles out of it in front of your
body, like pulling it out of your shirt and coat after you get dressed,
certain body movements like running your hands through it.
And of course, your famous head toss!
Now think of how you would feel if you unexpectedly lost your hair.
People would look at you differently, nobody would recognize you.
You would be reminded every time you go to shampoo your hair. IT IS NOT THERE.
Old habits would be a constant reminder.
You probably wouldn't care too much what you wear because you think
everyone would be looking at your head anyway. Why bother?
Your husband or boyfriend would still love you but you would always be
thinking he really loved my hair; does he still love me as much as he
did?
You would probably wear hats for a while then start looking at wigs and realize how much a decent looking wig can cost.
Then you think how devastating it would be if you were a child and this happened.
Kids don't like change. They make fun of things or people that
are different. Kids can sometimes unintentionally be cruel.
So you decide it's time for a change. Not a little change but a BIG change.
You hear about a program called Wigs for Kids.
This organization collects donated hair and makes wigs for children
that have lost their hair due to illness and other circumstances beyond
their control.
You log onto www.wigsforkids.org to find a participating salon in your area so you can donate your hair. A GREAT DECISION!
After thinking about it, you realize it's a small price to pay knowing
YOUR hair will grow back and knowing your hair will give some little
girl or boy the self-esteem they need to work through a very difficult
time in their life. |
